General Description of Duties

The Police Sergeant is responsible for the direct supervision of personnel and performs general duty police work. The Police Sergeant provides for the general day to day function and operation of the department. Duties are accomplished in accordance with and subject to department rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Lieutenant of Police.  Police Sergeants consults with superiors and subordinates to meet established department goals. Promote effective productivity through positive enforcement contacts and by encouraging teamwork to accomplish department goals.

Currently, Shift Supervisors provide 24 hours supervision for the Patrol Officers, working a fixed 12 hour shift schedule.
