Patrol

General Description of Duties

The Police Officer performs general duty police work con­nected with the maintenance of public safety through the enforcement of state and local laws.  Assigned duties are performed in accordance with departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Specific instructions are received and the work is regularly checked, however a police officer is required to exercise initiative and judgment when faced with routine and emergency situations.  Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Sergeant or Lieutenant.  A Patrol Officer may act as a shift supervisor as assigned.
